David Sparks, owner of Sparks Property Maintenance (SPM*) has operated his business for over 18 years across Aquidneck Island. David attended the Vocational High School in Beverly Massachusetts and his very first job was being a member of a landscaping crew. He worked every summer, focusing primarily on landscaping & masonry, which primed him for the skills of working with his hands and problem-solving. 

 

Post high school, he joined the Navy as a hospital corpsman and trained with the Marines in Camp Pendleton. David was stationed at the Navy Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island, where his “sense of home” started to enrich his life.  

 

After his service with the Navy, David started working for “Louie” at LSG Maintenance. This is where he learned how to ‘flip’ an apartment, and other skills such as; drywall, painting, electrical, and plumbing, all skills needed for apartment rental rehabs. When SPM was created in 2003, he continued his handyman business model, while integrating landscaping, yard maintenance, and masonry work. 

 

The longevity and success of SPM can be attributed to his love of the job. He is continuously inspired by the ability to create & fix problems with his hands. Each job is different and new each day. David takes pride in offering quality customer service and it has been the anthem since the beginning.
